Bad movies I have recently watched.

March 27th, 2010

First bad movie on the list is the movie called First Born. This was 1 of a hundred dvd’s I got from a going out of business sale at a rental company.  None of the dvd’s had the original case so when I went to watch this movie I had no info on it except for the name and the picture on the dvd.  The picture on the dvd made me think it was some sort of horror movie. So any was no knowing what to expect I started watching it and found it a bit boring so after about half way through I looked it up on imdb.com and found a few reviews all of the reviews said it was bad and every one said the ending was a either a disappointment or completely unexpected but not in a good way.  I then ended up watching it all the way to the end.  I would have to agree with the other reviews it had a very bad ending. Was not at all what I was expecting and I was like wow really?.  Some thing that was not mentioned by other reviews was the 2 time loops I saw.  Well I call them time loops. One was in the very middle of the movie. Basically what was happening id she through some one was breaking into her house and in reality is she was seeing her self 5 minutes or so in the future and when she got to the 5 minutes or so in the future she was seeing her self 5 minutes in the past.  The other time loops was at the beginning of the movie she finds a diary whiten by an unknown writer.  How ever at the end you see that she wrote it and put it where she found it. That how ever is not the surprise ending though.

Another movie also in that 100 dvds I got was In a dark place. This movie was a lot like the movie first born, it actually felt a lot like the same movie. Only a few differences. Instead of 1 child it had 2 and these kids were not hers but kids she was baby sitting.  In both movies the main character goes nuts for one reason or another or actually many reasons that are pointed out in the movie. The ending had the same sort of surprise but done a little different.  This one also did not have all that great of reviews on imdb.com.  No time loops in this one though but it did have ghosts. Although they may have been in the girls head who was playing the baby sitter as no one else sees the ghosts.

The third movie on the list of bad movies is Petrified.  This movie should have been a horror but it was done very badly in my opinion. It had a mummy in it but was done so poorly you could see he was wearing a mask. It felt like a very old low to no budget film but with modern technology as it was actually made around 2006. I had to look up reviews about this one as well and it also had bad reviews even worse then the other 2 movies.  The story line if it even had one was not all that great.  It kind of felt like it was mixing a mummy movie with a mad scientist movie as they had 2 separate things going on.

I look forward to seeing the movie 2012? this weekend. The CGI looked great. Maybe the story and acting won’t be up to par for everyone but the 6 bucks I’ll be paying for the matinee…. well… I think it will be well worth the price for the big special effects alone.

A friend of mine called me the other day to tell me she had visited a store that was going out of business and had purchased a stack of horror movies for about .50 a piece. Many of them had only the title stuck on an otherwise blank cover. She plans to bring them in a couple of weeks for us to watch together. I suspect we will find more than a few really bad movies in the pile. If I see any of the three you listed, I’ll be sure to put them at the very bottom of the stack.
