Alan Baghumian announced the first testing release of Parsix GNU/Linux 3.0, code name “Kev”, a desktop distribution based on Debian’s testing branch: “This version brings a vast amount of new features like: GNOME 2.26.2, brand new kernel based on Linux 2.6.29.6 with extra patches and drivers, updated installer system that supports ext4 and separate /home partition; NetworkManager is finally the default networking stack, Aufs and Unionfs support, Squashfs + LZMA compression for live CD and lots of updated packages – GNU Iceweasel 3.0.11, GParted 0.4.5, Pidgin 2.5.6, OpenOffice.org 3.0.1, Compiz Fusion 0.8.2 etc. We need community users help to test new installer features.” See the release announcement and release notes for more details.
