I started blogging when I opened this site about a month or so ago and I will admit I have learned a lot from blogging.
When I first started I made a lot of entries, mainly entries of news of linux and anime as those are the things I wished to share. Then when I saw an article about duplicate content being bad I thought hmm well I do copy the news from different sites on the web so maybe I will do the news a little different. So then I put linux news into one entry with all the latest distros and a short text about what the update included which was found on the site. This did make things a bit easier for me but it did slow down how often I was making posts. So I started adding other things I wanted to talk abotu an that interested me and I thought might interest others. Like posting dreams I had that I remember, which I found people do like. Another thing I added was reviews.
About the reviews I posted. I personally like to read short reviews when I am reading reviews. What I look for when I read a review is this:
Did you like it?
What did you like about it?
If you did not like it what did you not like about it?
Would you recommend it to your friends?
A review with some sort of star rating is a plus.
Thats pretty much all I look for in a review if it is to long I only skim it and according to one blog I recently read I am not the only one that skims the entry was called read me. So if I make short reviews that is pretty much the reason. Some thing my brother likes saying is “Short and to the point”.
Recently I read another blog entry that actually inspired me to write this blog entry. It was about Blogging to much. It had mentioned that blogging to much can lead to burn out. I personally have been there but not with this blog or my Otaku Play ground site. I have how ever gotten to that point with my theme site, which I closed down and opened up 3 times now. At this time I am not sure what I want to do with the theme site as it does take up a lot of time and has lead to burn out 3 times now. I am thinking maybe making themes is not my thing. I do how ever enjoy helping people build a site and that was what got me into making the theme(s) in the first place.
I have yet to get burned out with running Otaku Play Ground. If you count both names it went by I have been running it for over 2 years and I still enjoy doing it. I always have all kinds of plans to try out and I get very excited about any new thing that I may or may not add. Although I will admit before I make any changes I find out how the current members feel about it as I would not want to loose any or make any upset as we have a lot of great members whom I enjoy talking to and seeing on the site. Oh I do need to admit I did run out of ideas for our army rpg so if any one has ideas on how they would like that set up that would be great. The gallery which I have a link to on the side I consider part of otaku Play ground even though it is a separate site.
I also have yet to get burned out running this blog although I have only been running it for a month or so but I have ideas and articles I do want to add, just do not want to add them all at once.
Oh and I do hope every one enjoys what I put on my blog and thanks for reading.
