The Avex production company has opened a new website on Wednesday and announced To, the latest directorial project from Appleseed producer and Vexille director Fumihiko Sori. The To film is based on Yukinobu Hoshino’s 2001 Nights (2001 Ya Monotogari) manga, which tells several short stories about mankind’s voyages into space.
The manga ran in Futabasha’s Monthly Super Action magazine from June of 1984 to June of 1986, and it already inspired a 1987 video anime adaptation from TMS Entertainment and director Yoshio Takeuchi. Viz published the manga in English in North America, and the manga was also translated into Chinese, Korean, Italian, and Thai.
